AI Magic Man

Origin Story

The Story Behind AI Magic Man

I didn’t choose the name. A client gave it to me.

The funny thing about the name AI Magic Man is that it wasn't created by a branding agency, a marketing consultant or a brainstorming session.

It came from a client.

And it came from solving problems.

This client has more than 30 years of experience in her industry. She knows her industry inside out. She had seen the problems, understood the customers, worked with different providers and tested just about every SaaS solution available to her.

She wasn't looking for another piece of software.

She was looking for answers.

What she actually said

"I am leaving this up to the AI Magic Man!""Work your magic! NO ONE else does this!""AI Magic Man at it again!"

She had already tried almost everything.

Over the years, she had evaluated and tested numerous SaaS products designed to solve problems in her industry.

Some were good.

Some solved part of the problem.

Some created more complexity than they removed.

And some simply couldn't handle the way her business actually worked.

Eventually, she reached a point where she thought:

"If the solution doesn't exist, we'll have to build it ourselves."

That's when our conversations became different.

Instead of asking me what software I could provide, she started bringing me the problems others couldn't solve.

And some of those problems were genuinely hard.

The problems nobody had a ready-made answer for.

These weren't simple feature requests.

They were the kind of industry-specific challenges that don't appear neatly documented in a SaaS product brochure.

Problems involving processes, customer requirements, business rules, data, systems and the realities of how her industry actually operates.

She would explain what was happening.

I'd ask questions.

I'd understand the real problem underneath the problem.

And then I'd say:

"Leave it with me."

That's where the fun started.

The goal wasn't to build something complicated.

One of the things I learned very quickly was that the best solution wasn't necessarily the most sophisticated one.

It was the one her team could actually use.

So instead of adding layers of complexity, we looked for ways to simplify.

We turned difficult processes into straightforward workflows.

We removed unnecessary manual work.

We connected the right pieces.

We used AI where it genuinely added value.

And we designed the solutions around how people actually worked, rather than forcing people to change everything just because a piece of software worked that way.

The result?

Problems that had looked incredibly complicated became surprisingly simple.

And that became a pattern.

Every time she brought me another problem...

I'd hear something like:

"AI Magic Man, I've got another one for you."

I'd take the problem away.

I'd work through it.

And we'd find a way forward.

Not magic.

Just years of understanding how technology, architecture, business processes and people fit together, combined with the ability to use AI to approach problems in completely different ways.

But from her perspective, something else was happening.

She was bringing me problems that had no obvious solution...

And they were coming back as simple, workable solutions.

Then she said it.

After seeing solution after solution come together, she said:

"You're a Magic Man."

That sentence stuck with me.

Because she wasn't talking about AI for the sake of AI.

She wasn't talking about building another chatbot.

She was talking about the ability to take a problem that feels impossible, understand what is really happening, and turn it into something that simply works.

That's what the name came to represent.

So I made it official.

I decided to embrace the name.

AI Magic Man.

Not because I believe technology is magic.

Quite the opposite.

I've spent more than 25 years in enterprise architecture, technology and software, working with complex systems, organisations and business problems.

I know that behind every "impossible" problem there is usually a reason it has remained unsolved.

Sometimes the technology wasn't there.

Sometimes the existing software wasn't flexible enough.

Sometimes the problem was never properly understood.

And sometimes everyone was trying to solve the wrong problem.

AI changes what is possible.

But AI alone isn't the answer.

The real advantage comes from knowing where to use it, how to architect it, how to integrate it and, most importantly, how to make the final solution simple for the people who have to use it.

That's the promise behind AI Magic Man.

Bring me the problem your existing software can't solve.

Bring me the problem you've been working around for years.

Bring me the problem you've been told is too complicated.

Bring me the problem where you've already tried the obvious solutions.

Bring me the problem where you've reached the point of saying:

"Maybe we just have to build it ourselves."

Let's look at it differently.

Because I don't start by asking:

"What software should we sell you?"

I start by asking:

"What are we actually trying to solve?"

Then we work backwards.

Find the simplest approach.

Use technology where it creates real value.

Use AI where it changes what is possible.

And build something your people can actually use.

Because the best technology doesn't feel complicated.

It just works.

That's the kind of work I love.

The problems that make people say:

"We've tried everything."

The problems where someone says:

"I don't think this is possible."

The problems that have been sitting in a business for years because nobody has found the right way to approach them.

Those are the problems I want to work on.

And that's why my clients started calling me the AI Magic Man.
